HAWGSTOCK TRIBUTE TO "FALLEN RIDERS"
2-12-1941 to 11-29-2006
Bob Morgan & his cocker spaniel TJ

"Everything about Robert Morgan
was larger than life: his personality,
his trademark handlebar mustache,
his passion for connecting with
others."

Robert “Bob” Morgan, 65, of Burns, WY and Granite Shoals, Texas, died Nov. 29 in an automobile
accident in Oklahoma.

He was born Feb. 12, 1941, in Washington, D.C. to Freeman E. and Ruth Geraldine (Peterson)
Morgan.   He was always proud of the fact that the great Abraham Lincoln had been born on his
birthday.  (He never said he was born on Abe's birthday.)  TJ the family cocker spaniel was born in
2000 and also died in the accident.

On Oct. 5, 1963, Bob married his life’s mate, Theresa Sitterle in San Antonio, Texas. Through their 43
years of marriage, they would share a kindred passion for family and fun. In their last years together,
they were rarely separated, and often went to work together.

Wherever they went, their beloved black cocker, T.J., could be seen and heard. T.J. and Bob were
inseparable in life, and now remain so forever.

In 1980, he retired as a Tech Sergeant with 20 years in the U.S. Air Force. He then drove a school bus
for Laramie County School District No. 1 for another 20 years, once more retiring.

During and after this time, he enjoyed part-time jobs, including being a truck driver, and the founder of
the Ghost Tours for the Cheyenne Street Railway Trolley.   In 1992 Morgan walked into Judy Walton's
office at the Cheyenne Area and Convention Visitors Bureau to ask for a job as a trolley driver on
historic tours, she knew he was special. Atop his head, Morgan wore a black top hat. A black cape,
shirt and pants filling out the costume. "He looked like the perfect melodrama villain," recalled Walton,
who now works as office manager for the Cheyenne Regional Airport. "I thought the people would love
him, and they did." The handlebar mustache fit Morgan, she added. "He was made for (that)," she said.
Walton said Morgan was the source of more thank you letters to the bureau from visitors than any
other trolley driver. Morgan and daughter Val Martin of Burns worked to expand the trolley's Christmas
Lights Tour as well as create the

Ghost Tour. "They worked hard together - how hard they
worked on that Ghost Tour when it first started," Walton said.
Martin said her father's ability to interact with people was one his most special traits. "Perhaps it was
because he was involved in so many things, he could reach out to every person on some level," Martin
said. Morgan was born in Washington, D.C., but always felt a draw westward. "He just fell in love with
the West," Martin said. "His influence is still very present today in all of the tours," Jill LaHiff said,
adding that over the years he had scripted or revised many of the tours. "There's still a lot of him in
there."  He was also a volunteer tour guide at Ft. Groghan in Burnet, Texas, and a substitute school bus
driver with Laramie County School District No. 2.

Bob’s involvement in life extended to many horizons, most notable his love of boats and Harley
Davidson motorcycles, infatuations from his earliest years. Morgan was also well known in motorcycle
circles and made trips to Sturgis with his wife. Martin described the two, along with their dog, as
inseparable. "(Harleys) were always a huge part of his life," Martin said. "Who knows how many bikes
he had? I remember all the time hearing him count them." He loved writing, target shooting and picking
the banjo. During his Boy Scout years, he achieved the rank of Eagle Scout, became a member of the
Order of the Arrow, and cultivated a lifetime love of outdoor activities and the desire to share them with
family and friends. Most recently, he and Theresa had once more begun square dancing in Texas.

Outgoing, friendly, always ready to share a story again, willing to help anyone who looked to be in
need, Bob will be missed by family and friends across the country.

He is survived by his wife, Theresa V. Morgan; daughter and son-in-law, Val and Dewey Martin; son
and daughter-in-law, Tom and Deb Morgan; four grandchildren, Shaun Milligan, Morgan Martin, Kaleb
and Tyler Morgan, all of Burns; two step-grandchildren, Jay and Justin Martin and families of Rapid
City, S.D.; two brother and sister-in-laws, Don and Liisa Morgan and family of Reston, Va., and Dick
and Chris Morgan and family of Fairfax County, Va.; and three families on his wife’s side, Francis and
Esther Sitterle, John and Mary Sawyer, and John and Barbara Ann Couhig, all of Texas.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Freeman E. and Ruth P. Morgan.

Services are being handled by Schrader’s Funeral Home of Cheyenne and will be held at a later date,
pending the outcome of wife Theresa’s recovery from the same accident. Cremation has already taken
place.

Honorary pallbearers will be Don Morgan, Dick Morgan, Shaun Milligan, Kaleb Morgan, Tyler Morgan,
Jim Nahodyl, Elmer Hays and Chuck Jewell.

In lieu of flowers, please pray for Theresa: Our cherished mother and grandmother.
