This morning, Dr Bordeaux stopped by to tell Mom she will
definitely have no more dialysis. Her kidney function is #2, meaning
that her kidneys are operating at 50% of normal. When she
improves to #1, the kidneys will be operating at 100%, and she will no longer
need a Renal Doctor.
For two days, she has complained about her feet. They are freezing,
they hurt, & then she can't feel them. They have fallen
asleep or somehow they got turned under themselves. We try to keep
them covered, rub them, and keep her on pain medication as needed.
For much of the last couple days, she seems to have been on a
sleep-a-thon. It is good for her.
Her eating & drinking increases. For lunch today, she ate some
chicken with her strained potato soup. After she finished eating, I went
downstairs & had some chunky potato soup. Same stuff, smelled just as
good, and was very tasty. For dinner, she passed on the Mac & Cheese,
but ate a good portion of her broccoli.
Again I find the weather here to be unrealistic. They are already
proclaiming this storm is historic in nature. As the city is
inundated with an ice storm, electricity out all over town, the local TV station
follows the storm closely. The weather map they show tells us were the ice is
stopping travel & causing severe problems. All of this is shown in
pink on the map. The brown dots are where the flooding of the river is
expected. Now ... where I come from, when there is this much ice &
cold, the water freezes solid. Ask my kids as they try to keep the horses
with water to drink.
I do believe I am going to give in, & go to the motorhome for the
sleeping bag. I think I'm sleeping on the couch tonight. Not that I
can't sleep tucked in out in the motorhome. But I do have a problem
getting out from under the covers & making it upstairs in time to meet with
the doctors.
Mom continues to work her muscles. She may not realize it. But
she is pretty close to pulling herself out of bed. It would be so nice if
she could be closer to home, but we will work with the cards that have been
dealt us, & make the best of what we have. We will just keep trying
to travel between the storms! So ... if any you have an in with the
weather maker, please see if you can't get us some bigger time windows to travel
through! ~ Val &
