A little yellow Post-It Note hung on my refrigerator for
years. It read:
Hungry
Angry
Lonely
Tired
It was given to me by my counselor, Rene Haller, back in that
other lifetime. It meant exactly what it said: never let
yourself get too hungry, angry, lonely, or tired. Sadly, Rene passed away
in 2002, and the sticky wore off my Post-It ... the paper is
gone. But I remember Rene, & I remember her words. And I
remember to follow her advice, whenever I can.
Tom is on his way home. He left Tulsa with the motorhome
a few hours ago. He needs to get home, then back to Denver in time to
catch a flight to Tulsa tomorrow (he still has that 2 month old plane
ticket). Mom is tentatively scheduled to leave Tulsa on Thursday (one of
us can ride with her). She will be going to Denver, for her upcoming
surgeries.
I doubt Mom will get to visit the Chapel
before she leaves St Francis.
As far as my heart is concerned, Mom is coming
home. Less than 3 hours away.
Today was better than yesterday.
Tom tells me that once Mom's legs have
been positioned for her, she can pull herself upright, without even
using her trapeze. She can sit up in bed by herself, & can sit
there for 45 minutes. She usually doesn't like it one bit!
She can also lift her left leg off the bed, to have
a pillow positioned under it.
And today she earned the privilege of
eating REAL non-pureed
food!
