Mom is scheduled to have surgery in the morning at 7:30.
Dr Orze (?) has read her file, but not actually met Mom. He's going
to try to stretch the damaged muscles back together, rather than take a muscle
from elsewhere in her body. We assume he feels it might be more
detrimental to her health to move a muscle at her age.
They also found ligament issues
in her left knee, that were previously undetected. Her external
fixator was removed last night in the procedure that was preformed. They
do believe she will need more surgery on that ankle in the
future.
Mom's nurse, Dawn, called to let us know the surgery schedule,
just as the girls varsity game went into overtime. Dawn said that Mom had
been having a tough time this evening, so I called her, & not knowing what
else to talk about, she got a play-by-play of the overtime, where Burns
won. As soon as the game was over, Tom was able to come to the phone &
talk to her also. I think she feels a lot better now.
Morgan is coming down with what may be the flu. We hope
to waylay it & keep it from going round Tom's house. We can afford to
do without the flu!
And the BIG news of the day ... Tom & Deb zoomed into the future with
DSL! Right this very moment, Deb & I are both online & the phone
is free to ring! But tomorrow we have a long day, so we are calling it
