Hello friends of Bob Morgan.
Most of you have followed along over the past months as we have
witnessed the miraculous recovery of our Mother, Theresa Morgan. For those
that are not familiar, a brief explanation: Bob & Theresa Morgan,
along with their beloved black cocker spaniel, TJ, were traveling through
Oklahoma, when they were hit head-on. We lost Dad & TJ, & nearly
lost Mom many times over the next couple weeks. Today, Mom is learning to
walk, & will be returning to her Wyoming home in late June. You can
reach her at
RockingBT@aol.com. There are several
surgeries remaining in her future, but she has an incredible spirit, &
Dad has been her angel from the moment we lost him.
You can trace Mom's recovery through the
emails we sent, for they have been generously posted on
HAWGSTOCK MOTORCYCLE
RALLY, under the heading Fallen Riders. Hawgstock is one of the
Rallies the folks regularly attended in Iowa.
It is our desire to thank each of you for your continued support, which has
come in so many forms. If we are lucky, one day we will accomplish this
goal.
Mom & Dad attended lots of events around the country, but once they
found the two Rallies in Iowa, they made sure Iowa was on each year's schedule
of events! We owe the bikers of Iowa many thanks. Although they
could not visit Mom during her stay at St Francis in Tulsa, they contacted
fellow bikers in Oklahoma, and many bikers Mom had never met came to visit
her.
Tom & I have never had the opportunity to understand the bond that drew
Mom & Dad to Iowa, to not only attend, but to volunteer at the ABATE of
Iowa Freedom Rally, held each 4th of July. They would leave Wyoming a
good 2 weeks before the event, to help prepare the campground. This is the
Rally the folks always explained with these words ... "No guns, No attitudes, No
dogs." At first, TJ stayed in Wyoming. Later he rode with them,
volunteering in any way possible

, and then staying with friends
nearby, or boarding at a kennel during the actual Rally. The Freedom
Rally volunteers couldn't help but be humbled in the presence of TJ's Movie
Star personality!
Mom & Dad were official weed trimmers, while
Dad proudly took on a great deal of the mowing detail (we heard tons
of stories about this project!)
The volunteers of the Freedom Rally begin their
task this year without Mom, Dad & TJ. They tell us they have decided
the grove of trees where Mom & Dad camped will be named Morgan Grove, in
honor of Dad & TJ.
It is also members of this volunteer force, Lee & Jeff McCubin, who
have taken on the burden of helping us to create a memorial patch for Dad.
The memorial patch is a way to honor & remember a man who touched the lives
of so many people. Throughout the winter, we have exchanged emails, and
have at last come to the final details of the artwork. Unfortunately, we
were not able to have the patches completed before the Freedom Rally, but Lee
will begin taking orders from those folks attending the Rally.
We don't know how many we will be ordering ...
that's up to you folks. We have put the cost at $5 per patch, & hope
to make an order shortly after the Freedom Rally. Any proceeds will be
used to offset the expenses Mom has encountered as a result of the
accident.
If you are interested in buying a patch (or
patches), please send an email to
dewandval@aol.com, or call Val at
307-547-3877. Please feel free to share this information with
anyone that may have known Dad & TJ, supports Mom, or is just
interested in honoring a man & his dog that loved to ride.
~ Dad was known for his trademark handlebar mustache.
~ TJ rode behind him, & had been given the orange
H-D bandana by a dealership that 'babysat' him while Mom & Dad tried to
solve some bike problems.
~ Choosing which bike to represent Dad's passion for Harleys
was downright tough, but blue was his favorite color, and the '96 Ultra was the
1st bike he carried TJ on.
~ Dad's signature spoke volumes, & he signed
everything, for he took great pride in his work (most of us know
the majority of his work was play, even when he worked for pay!)
Thank you for all your support & for the friendship you
have shared with our parents. Sincerely ~ Tom Morgan & Val
